Things we are loving/wanting/dreaming of on this Friday

Stylish Mama:

1. Poppy & Pinecone

A while back I saw a few of their prints on Pinterest and I took a liking to their artwork right away.  I love the bright yet soft hews their prints have.  I am thinking of getting one for my home.  Here are a few that I am loving and eyeing.

2.

This Stunning Aster Flared Dress from Anthropologie is absolutely stunning!  Its made out of silk and has beautiful pops of red. I am in love! Gorgeous!

Organized Chica:

3.
Ava Headchain $25
The Vanessa $25
I am in love with these head pieces from Skyy Collection.  They are beautiful, stylish and affordable.  Can't wait for the warmer weather to wear these with my dresses.

4.

Have you ever been using your phone and you have a "Mr. Nosy" or "Miss I Want to See Too" looking over your shoulder just to see what you are doing on your phone? Well I recently purchased these Privacy Screen Protectors and I love it! People from certain angles won't be able to see what you see on your cell at all.  No need to worry about "Mr. Creepy" looking over, he won't see much.  Search online or go to your local mall to find a variety of prices.

Saw this on Pinterest and couldn't help but share this little bit of spring cleaning humor.

Laura Geller Makeup Kit Review

March 26, 2014

I have been a fan of Laura Geller products for quite sometime now.  I have always loved her line of eye shadow, bronzer, and blush.

As I was shopping for a new makeup kit to spruce up my "daily look" - I came back to an old favorite, but one that has been updated a bit.
Laura Geller has really improved her products with her "Baked Collection."

I read reviews and did some research on her kit called Baked Confections Collection.  And thought it would be a good purchase as it came with medium sized products.  It included: color-correcting foundation, blush and brighten, three eye-shadows in one compact case, and cherry almond lipstick. (as well as the two brushes shown below)

The beautiful shimmery palette is what drew me in!

I have to say the foundation is a miracle worker...for a girl with rosacea (redness) like me.  I get the pink blotchy marks on my cheek line and on my forehead...so with the color-correcting pigments in the foundation I actually get an overall smooth look.  Goodbye to the red!

However, I can't stress enough to get a primer! It will make sure your makeup stays with you all day!! Or as Miss Laura Geller calls it, Spackle!  (which is not included in the kit shown above)

This product is totally worth the investment!  I prefer the tinted spackle. The color is actually very light and if anything adds a little more of a "lush" look to your makeup.  If you use it, you will see that it smooths out your makeup once applied on top of the primer.

Another fun tip for this kit is that the eye shadow trio includes a "highlighting" shadow...which you can use under your eyes or in the corner of your eyes to make your eyes "pop."  I also use it as a highlighter and brightener...I add a strip down the bridge of my nose and to top of my cheeks.  Great fresh and glowing look!

The only part of this kit that I was not super impressed with the cherry almond lipstick.  I felt like it was not a flattering color on it's own. Very "fleshy"  color and when it dries it gets matted...I prefer a lip gloss look so maybe it was just me who did not prefer the finish look.

Over all,I think this is a great starter kit for her line of products. I am glad I got it and now I know which products I will invest in for the bigger sizes.

Happy Shopping!

How do I clean....?

March 25, 2014

In case you are still working on your Spring Cleaning list or just wondering how to clean certain items or spaces in your home, I wanted to share a couple of sites that I reference to either figure out the best way to clean something or to make sure I stay on track and not miss a spot in my home with my list.

1. Clean My Space - Melissa has brought the fun into cleaning.  Her YouTube videos are right on point and full of energy.  She's my #1 choice if I need to learn how to clean something in particular.

2. Stain Solutions - This site is actually really cool because all you need to do is filter or scroll down to find your stain and it provides you with instructions on how to treat and remove your stubborn stain.

3. Pinterest - oh come on! you knew this was coming.  What can't you possibly find in Pinterest? Just type in the word "cleaning" and the results are endless.

4. The Apron Blog from Home Depot - search for the words "spring cleaning" and you get awesome tutorials on how to clean and manage outdoor cleaning projects.

The resources are endless, these were just a few to get you started.

Happy Cleaning,

weekend recap

March 24, 2014

Happy Monday!

Hope everyone enjoyed their weekend. We did a lot and it was busy, but had a great time and created new memories with friends and family.

Saturday we had date night with Organized Chica and her hubby.  We had a fabulous time in Cranston, RI.  We wanted to do a little shopping and then dining at Garden City and Chapel View.  Both being right next to each other worked out perfectly. So many amazing shops in one area.  You could literally shop all day!

We had reservations at Bone Fish Grill.  I have been wanting to try this place for years!  All I have heard about is their Bang-Bang Shrimp and Thai Coconut Shrimp appetizers.  So we had to order those!

Bang-Bang Shrimp

Thai Coconut Shrimp

Both did not disappoint.  I will say the guys were more excited to try the bang bang shrimp and the girls were more excited to try the Thai coconut shrimp...and in the end we all agreed the Thai coconut shrimp was more flavorful and our favorite.  A must order!

We had a great dinner and the service and atmosphere were all great.  Definitely a place we want to go back and try again.

Stylish Mama and Organized Chica

Great news for you local peeps, Living Social is running a BOGO (buy one get one free) meal deal right now for Bone Fish Grill.  Just click on this link and you can sign up for yours totally free! Living Social Bone Fish BOGO deal

Before dinner we had gone into Alex and Ani Headquarters which is right next to Bone Fish Grill to do some browsing.  (possibly for a blog giveaway next month! stay tuned!)  And Organized Chica got me good!  She was asking me which bracelets were ones that I was eyeing.  I fell for it!  For your answer see below:

I have the worlds most sweetest friends in both her and her husband who surprised me with a Red Sox Alex and Ani!  And I love it!  It being almost Red Sox Season and this girl is geared up!  This girl was born into Red Sox nation and will always have a special place for them in my heart.  Thank you again guys, you both are just too sweet for words.

The restaurant pictured behind us is Chapel Grille.  We are both eyeing their menu for an upcoming girls night out.  Such a beautiful restaurant and its all lite up with string lights.  We had to take a pic (even though we were freezing!!!)

My weekend was not over there.  Next was a Frozen Party on Sunday.  My daughter is your typical girl right now who is obsessed with this movie.  The music, silly Olaf, and Princess Ana.  She was excited to be going to a movie night at a friends house (even though we watched it a million times at home).

Someone told me that these Frozen dolls are going for some serious cash on Ebay right now.  Uncle Jimmy, if you are reading this...don't even think about it, don't think Dani will part with them.  ha ha

Some of you might have seen my post on Instagram if you follow us of the Greek Dip I had made for the party.  I promised I would share with you the recipe.  And it is a good one.  You mostly see taco dip at parties, but when do you see a Greek dip?

  Greek Dip

Ingredients:

1 8 ounce package of cream cheese softened
1 tablespoon of fresh lemon juice
1 teaspoon of dried Italian seasoning (I use Trader Joes 21 Season Salute)
2-3 cloves of garlic minced
1 container of hummus (normal size, not family size)
1 cup finely diced cucumber
1 cup finely diced tomato
1/2 cup chopped pitted kalamata olives
1/2 cup crumbled feta cheese
1/3 cup of fresh mint chopped
fresh cracked pepper
Pita chips (I like Stacy's chips)

Directions:

In a medium mixing bowl with a paddle attachment - slowly beat together cream cheese, lemon juice, Italian seasoning, garlic on medium speed until all combined and smooth

Spread the cream cheese mixture into a deep dish pie plate.  Spread hummus on top of the cream cheese layer.  (I add a squeeze of lemon juice on top of hummus layer)
Top with Cucumber, Tomato, Olives, Feta, and Mint. Then grind fresh crack pepper on top.

Cover and refrigerate for 2-4 hours.  Serve with Pita Chips. Enjoy!

Things we are loving/wanting/dreaming of on this Friday

Stylish Mama:

1.

If anyone knows me, they know I love me some leopard print.  I am loving the Kardashian Kids collection from Toys R Us.  A lot of leopard print. This Leopard/Star Print Reversible Cotton Receiving Blanket would make an adorable gift for anyone who is expecting a baby!

2.
I love infused water.  I love using fresh fruit, and herbs to spruce up my water.  I however live with a man who despises anything floating in his water!  This new Crate and Barrel Pitcher with built-in infuser would make a perfect vessel to serve water with fruit and or herbs...but a great way of keeping the two separated.  Genius!

Organized Chica:

3.
Anastasia Beverly Hills Dipbrow Pomade
This is a product I've been wanting to try since it first came out.  I currently use brow powder to define my eyebrows but this is the hot item now.  I tried buying it last week but the store was sold out so I will try again soon.  I love how this product looks on the MUA on follow on YouTube and Instagram so I'm itching to try it on me.
These lamps are exquisite!! Look at the detail! I'm in love.  Intricate botanical designs are cut and placed with hundreds of small shells on a resin base. Can you imagine a dimmed room only lit up by a few of these lamps? Beautiful!

Stylish Mama meets Organized Chica:

5.

We both are fans of strawberry shortcake.
But we both agree that what makes the best type are three things...
1.Homemade Whip-Cream
2. Good quality cake
3. Fresh Strawberries

And typically you can only get those three things if you make your own from scratch.
This week we both discovered Whole Foods makes an amazing strawberry shortcake with all three of those things!!  Thanks to Organized Chica's awesome hubby, he brought a small cake for us to share.  And boy are we happy he did!  A must try for any special occasion, or well...a busy work day at the office.

Countdown to Spring!

March 18, 2014

Spring officially starts this week! Who is excited as I am? What comes to mind when you think of Spring?

  • Warmth
  • Birds chirping
  • Longer day light
  • Pastel colors
  • Lighter clothing
  • Flowers growing
  • Babies
  • Weddings
and the list continues but want to know what I'm super duper excited about the most???

Spring Cleaning!!!

Oh yes! I want to do a little happy dance right now! I know that in New England its quite cold still but the idea that Spring is among us and we are starting to see the weather change is enough to get this Chica with her groove on. I know you must think I'm a little loca en la cabeza (crazy in the head) but this is my happy time.  And you are all coming for the ride.  I have compiled a list of things that I need, ok want, to get done this Spring. Hope you are reading this Mr. Handyman!

To start off my Spring Cleaning, I first needed to organize my time so I could take full advantage of the longer daylight and not feel overwhelmed with the long list of tasks that I created based on personal needs and recommendations from other bloggers I follow that are a pro on this.    My goal is to give myself a deadline for each task, 3 months to get this house looking spic and span.  This is where my time management will come into play.  We will discuss that in a future post.

For now, I just wanted to share with you that I will be doing Spring Cleaning Challenges for you to do as well.  Don't worry, we will start off small.

Get ready!!! SPRING CLEANING! HERE WE COME!!!

Remember how I said that Spring can remind you of babies, well about two weeks ago, I had a very small baby shower in my home for a friend.  It was a last minute quick gathering to celebrate and help out our friend who is such a ball of energy and fun.  Here are a few shots that my dear friend Marie took while I running around.  (Thank you Marie!!)

I wanted to keep it very simple and within a budget.  My GO-TO stores were the Christmas Tree Shop, Dollar Store and Michael's for decorations. I bought the tasty hors d'oeuvre at Sam's Club, quick to make and so yummy. Not to mention my "party bin" that I keep stocked with goodies for occasions like these.  One thing that I love of my group of friends, is that we are all happy to pitch in with anything that is needed.  Each of them contributed with either a food item or drink making it easier for everyone.  We played two games and the winners got Starbucks goodies as a prize and all the moms gave the new mommy their best advice or tip.  At the end of it all, we had tons of fun.

Doesn't this remind you of Spring?

Happy Organizing,

Organized Chica

Put some Spring into your Step!

March 17, 2014

What little girl doesn't grow up dreaming of being a fashion designer?
Or a clothes/shoes buyer?
Ok, maybe that was just my dream.
But I bet most of us would love to design a pair of shoes that we could proudly wear!

I am loving how Attilio Giusti Leombruni has flats you can design on your own!  If simply go to Nordstroms Website you can follow the simple steps on designing your own adorable AGL Flats!

The Color Combos are endless!

Here are a couple I came up with!

You should give it a try!  It's fun and kind of made me feel like a kid again...pretending and designing.

Scenes from my weekend:

Dani was invited to a bouncy house party, and I learned once again that my daughter is not a risk taker.  Her cousins were running from one bouncy house to another, going up and down the big slides, backwards and forwards...and my daughter was perfectly content bouncing up and down in the same one with a red ball!

Here is a selfie with my happy bouncy girl! (have you heard that new selfie song? that's all I can think of now when I take one, "wait, first let me take a selfie!")

Friends of ours are visiting and they have a 3 year old boy who my daughter adores.  So she got dressed up for a lunch date we had at Bertucci's.  She packed her Olivia lunch box with all her favorite toys.

I am trying to try new wines and dabble with different kinds as I can sometimes get stuck with my go to Cabernet Sauvignon.
This weekend I tried Cupcake Angel Food wine.

This is a Chardonnay blend that crazily enough kind of tastes like Angel Food cake, just not as sweet.  Huge hints of vanilla and granny smith apples. I paired it with some Irish cheddar cheese, and I was really enjoying the contrast of flavors.  I am thinking this will be great chilled in the summer with some fresh picked strawberries.  I will gladly test that out and get back to you with the results!  :)

Happy Monday Y'all!

Love, Stylish Mama

5 Fab Friday

March 14, 2014

Things we are loving/wanting/dreaming of on this Friday

Stylish Mama:

When I saw this at the Gap, I had to snag it.  Even though we are still getting snow here in New England!  I can't wait to put this on my daughter.  Its 100% cotton which makes it the perfect light weight dress for summer time.  When I showed her the dress she loved it...my little animal lover.  The Gap is having a great sale right now 30% off.

2.

The husband had a corporate event in Boston yesterday and he was nice enough to bring me back some goodies.  One of the things he brought home was this Max Brenner Milk Chocolate Bar with these amazing pieces of caramel and flecks of sea salt.  Wow. What a chocolate bar!  If any of you are in the Boston or NYC area and get a chance to stop in - try one of these!

Organized Chica:

3.

I'm not too much of a sneaker person so if I'm going to have a pair, why not make sure they look cute.  I came across the NIKE ID, where you get to choose the colors you want on your sneakers.  Now depending on your style, you can create some colorful sneakers. I'm very plane Jane and stick to my black color with a touch of gray and blue.  This would be a nice personalized gift to someone.  To design your own, visit NikeID

4.
If you're a Target fan like we are, I'm sure you have seen their Threshold Poufs in many colors.  They have been a big hit.  It's an instant extra sit or it can act as a table.  Love the patters and they are quite comfy, yes I tested them out at the store, who doesn't? They also have the outdoor poufs now for the warmer weather.  Do you like them?

How are we all doing with our Burpee challenge?  Hope everyone is killing it!
