Part 2: The Grand Opening of The Container Store, RI

May 23, 2014

Here is part two of our blogger lunch/tour and lastly photos from the VIP Grand Opening Party!

Ever wonder what you would use these storage containers for?

Wonder no more!
There are multiple uses and best part about these is that they are clear,
so you can always tell what it inside without having to open them.

Here is a food station the store made for the desserts -all done with office storage!
Below is a photo of how they were used...

Such a great idea for the upcoming summer!
Takes the guessing work out of what to bring and what you need to pack!

Eagle Creek traveling product line! Love them!!

Stylish Straws - LOVE!  Any stylish lady would love these for entertaining guests!

What could make us happier than a private store tour?
Food and a $50 gift card courtesy of The Container Store!  Thank you!!

Best part of the lunch for us was when we won a container...
full of fun goodies from the store.
If you follow us on Instagram you will notice we are featuring some of our finds and our feedback.

Here is a photo taken by the photographer hired by The Container Store.

Organized Chica ordering a cocktail.
Did we mention this event was Open Bar?

Yummy!!  The seafood station.
Fish cakes, Ceviche, lobster rolls, stuffed clams, and Cava!

Sushi all served on bamboo organizers

Yummy Asian noodles served in adorable takeout containers
(which you can buy in the store)

Here is the dessert station...adorable macaroons peeking out of the draw...so much fun!

At the event we ran into a familiar face...our friend Kristen!

And we also met Kristen's mom...
we now know where she gets her beauty and sweet personality from!

Here us...taken at the end of the night...we danced, we ate, and we had fun!

And yes, I went on Saturday again. I had to give my mom a personal tour...lol  And maybe I went again on Sunday, but who is keeping track.  I found this really cool chair that I want for my job, it's suppose to help your posture and work your core.  Big shout out to Leidy, my new Container Store friend! When you visit the store go say hi to her. She's a sweetheart! You can mostly find her in the office section and the woman is knowledgeable.

If you would like to view some of our videos that we recorded at the Container Store, please visit our Facebook page.  These were our first videos so we made our share of mistakes.  Apparently I, Organized Chica, am a camera hog and overly use the word "actually" when I don't even use the word in my everyday vocabulary.

We would love to hear from you all as to what you enjoy most about the store and your first visit.
Happy Shopping and Enjoy the long weekend everyone!!

Part 1: Container Store Blogger Preview Lunch

May 21, 2014

Finally we get to share with you the photos we took during the Blogger Preview for the Container Store at Garden City, Rhode Island.  Let's do a recap!

We were sitting on the area that was going to be used as the dance
floor during the party that same night.

We were given the history of the Container Store while some ate lunch.

Of course we had to take a picture before going on our private tour.

Peace my people!!! Chill free zone!!! I'm at the CONTAINER STORE!!
Plastic bins in every size!! Endless possibilities.
Shoe bins, boot bins, legos bins, craft bins and on and on...

Hangers!!!

Pick your color and style!!!

You know we had to stop during our tour to take a picture! Smile!!
Right  next to the dessert area for the Preview Party.

Aisles dedicated to every area of your home,
such as "Shoe Storage" and....
"Shower Caddies & Tub Accessories",
"Countertop Collections & Cosmetic Trays"
and "Cabinet Organizers"

We will take one of the each please!

Use your vertical space to organize and store your bigger items.

Clearly I was a little too happy here!

All the way to the right hand corner of the store,
you will find one of our favorite areas, "Office"

Oodles and doodles of nifty organizing things!

Guess what?
The Container Store has a "Container" aisle!

All shapes, sizes and colors!

The store was preparing for the Party Preview that was taking place that same night.  They had different stations prepared using the same products the store sells for organization.  How cool is that? Boxes, trays, bins, drawers, sorter, you name it, they used it to display the food that night.  Here are a few of the stations.

Cheese sandwiches

Mini pulled pork on flatbreads

Veggies with dip

Stay tuned for part 2 where we will share more pictures of this awesome day.

Happy Organizing,

Preschool shopping

May 14, 2014

If any of you have an infant or even a toddler at home, I am sure you have all given thought and have actually had to ask someone else besides you or your mate to watch your child.  If you are anything like me you get much anxiety with just the thought of your child entering school age...knowing that you no longer have to give it thought, but it's actually going to happen.

My husband I have been doing a little preschool shopping lately.

And I call it shopping, because you in fact are doing just that.  There are many considerations that have to come into play for a good preschool that seems fit for your child.

Here are a few things that are affecting our decision on where to send her:

1. Cost (big one)....some of these schools in and around our area are so expensive.
2. Location (just like shopping for a home...location, location, location) it needs to be in a location near my work or at least near my home so my husband could get my daughter if she ever becomes sick or if needs a parent to come and pick her up for some reason.
3. Curriculum (some schools focus more on a structured day much like a kindergarten prep...others focus on well...play time)
4. Cleanliness (Huge for me, I am such a clean freak...and most daycare's/preschools do not meet my expectations on cleanliness)
5. Hours (let's be honest...I need to make sure they are open modern day mother working hours...as I start my day VERY early...and most daycare's do not open as early as I would like)

And so my list of needs continue to get bigger as I have toured a few preschools thus far.

So I figured I would share a couple of links which has become a helpful tool for me in my "shopping of preschools."

Like anything you want to be organized and have all your questions lined up so you don't forget them.
Don't be afraid to write them all down on a piece of paper and bring it in with you while you tour your preschool.

Also, as a tip...always tour the school while its in full swing...during school hours.
It's good to see the teachers interact and under pressure.  Don't feel funny about asking for a tour during the day when there is a classroom full of children.  If the school does not allow this to happen...well that could be a red flag.

If any you who have been through this process and has any tips, please feel free to share below in the comments section.

Fundraiser for Baby Angela

May 13, 2014

Last month, we posted a story on Baby Angela, read here, and are happy to report she is doing well.  She had surgery last week and it was a success.  Well an old friend and co-worker has been so touched by Baby Angela's story that she decided to hold her own fundraiser.  Dimitra is a Sales Consultant for Silpada jewelry.  For as long as I can remember, Dimitra has always been about the bling bling so she decided what better way to help out Baby Angela and her family then to combine a good cause with her love for jewelry.

She has opened a virtual fundraiser where all the sale proceeds will go to Baby Angela.  We can't wait to see how much we can all raise for her.

For those that are interested in participating in the fundraiser and have a love for jewelry, visit Dimitra's direct link to the Silpada Virtual Fundraiser Party

Big shout out to Dimitra for having such a big heart!

Cafe Ole, Providence

May 12, 2014

Hope you all had a great weekend!

If any of you live in the New England area, you will probably agree with me on how Sunday's weather was absolutely picturesque.  As a family we spent most of the day outside soaking in the sun and enjoying the zero humidity factor don't you don't always get when its warm out here in NE.

Last Friday a few co-workers and myself visited a new restaurant establishment in Providence, RI called Cafe Ole.  It's a Mexican restaurant with a Tex-Mex flair to it.

I along with my co-workers all ordered the tacos.  They got the chicken tacos and I had tried the marinated flank steak.

For under $10 you get two massive loaded tacos on a yummy corn tortilla and a side plate of rice and black beans.  The tacos were absolutely delish!  The toppings were all fresh including a very generous scoop of guacamole and sour cream.  I love when a restaurant doesn't charge you extra for these...as I feel that it is part of every Mexican dish!  Especially tacos!

I noticed the menu had other non traditional items such as burgers, salads, and fried alligator.  Yes...alligator.

I am defiantly going to return to the restaurant however next time I will order from their takeout as I do work near here and often have to rush on my lunch break. As a side note...their takeout menu is also cheaper. There is also talk of going here for margaritas and their chips and homemade salsa after work one day.  No one will have to twist my arm as margarita is my cocktail of choice.

5 Fab Friday

May 9, 2014

Things we are loving/wanting/dreaming of on this Friday

Stylish Mama:

1.
Sun-kissed Jeans for the Spring/Summer.  I am loving this lighter wash on jeans for this season. I just bought a pair of these and have been wearing them non stop.  This particular pair is made by Black Denim.  However the pair I bought was much cheaper and can be found at Old Navy.

2.
Took my daughter with family and friends to High Tea for the first time yesterday.  And she loved it!  This mama is so excited as this is one of my all time favorite things to do.  Even though my girl asked for french fries on the side. Love her!  :)

Organized Chica:

3.

If you love the sound of rain then this website is for you.  This has been my nighttime sound to fall asleep.  I've had such a crazy schedule and boatload of work that I'm overly exhausted to fall asleep right away so I need help to relax.  This website or app is the best thing for me.  Give it a try.  Very soothing.  I can even hear the birds chirp.

4.
I have never been so addicted to mouthwash as I am now (in a good way).  At a recent dentist cleaning visit I asked my dentist what products she would recommend to her patients since there are so many options at the store.  She recommended the Crest Pro-Health Complete.  Whoa! I look forward in using this in the morning and nightly routine.  It leaves your mouth so refreshed.  Listen to me! I sound like a commercial.

Stylish Mama meets Organized Chica:

5.

To any of you who are going to tackle cleaning your home this weekend...Happy Spring Cleaning! They say it will be in the 70's this weekend, which is a nice change.
