MAC Mineralize Skinfinish Face Powder - Sunny Side
I
t's that time of year...where you have to "fake it" to achieve the glowing tan look.  I bought the MAC mineralize skin finish face powder and I actually like the look it gives your skin when using it.  Gives me a warm glow without feeling too heavy.

J.Crew Tippi Sweater

I love animal print anything.  I found this same sweater at the J. Crew outlets for half the price its listed online...whoo hooo!  I love how comfortable and lightweight it feels...great for layering too, Add a pop of color underneath with a collard shirt,, or wear a statement necklace with it.  Fall is here, which means...sweater weather.

Marshalls
I have been wanting to redo my living room for a while now and it probably won't happen but I can't stop looking at furniture.  This piece caught my eye at my local Marshall and I love it! I love the gray color fabric, the curves and the metal head detail. I'm adding this to my wishlist.

Caramel Apple Spice
Finally! Something that I can drink and enjoy at Starbucks. Their Caramel Apple Spice is soooooo yummmm, like the singing yumm! This is perfect for a crisp fall day.  Steamed fresh apple juice mixed with cinnamon syrup and topped with whipped cream (optional) and caramel drizzle.

The story behind: Get Janes and giveaway

October 24, 2016

Although some of us may have or have not experienced cancer, for the most part, we have loved ones that have and we can all relate to a certain point.  Since October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, we want to shine the spotlight on Sharon Linder, a cancer survivor who would like to share with all of our readers her story and what came out of her journey.

I, Organized Chica, have been participating in the Breast Cancer Walk for almost 8 years so when Sharon reached out to us and I read her story, I was touched. I lost an aunt to cancer and like many of you, we ache when we recall their struggle but always carry with us their willing to fight till the end.

We both had the opportunity to meet Sharon and were impressed with her upbeat and positive energy despite the curve balls that life has thrown at her. We both love supporting local businesses and want to always share the best with our followers.

Let's let Sharon share her story about "perseverance, second acts and making lemons into lemonade...with a win-win ending"......

"My mother and two sisters are breast cancer survivors. I am vigilant about being tested, retested, examined, reexamined and take part in local studies, On numerous occasions, finding myself sitting around in a patient examination gown surrounded by other women, skinny girls freezing, everyone else falling out the front of their gowns. Not to mention the truly plus size women who were hiding in the dressing rooms too embarrassed to join us. All clutching our thin, scratchy gowns closed, waiting to hear the worst news of our lives.

Thinking there had to be a better way I went in search of a solution. After working at a fortune 500 hundred company for 30+ years...I was about as far as you can get from an entrepreneur but did know how to navigate the internet to get information. What I found was astounding. The traditional "hospital gown" had not been refitted since before the turn of the century, 65% of the US population is now overweight (and getting larger) and finding a universal hospital gown is an international problem. Designers such as Diana Von Furstenberg, Nicole Miller and Ben DeLisi from London have been attempting to lend their expertise to the dilemma. The Robert Wood Johnson Foundation has given hundreds of thousands of dollars in an attempt to find a solution.
Not being a designer and not having the backing of a big foundation I held focus groups with nurses, nurse administrators, radiologists and patients. I worked with a regional hospital laundry to come up with a fabric that would be durable enough to withstand the rigors of hospital abuse.

I began a company called GetJanes, LLC (www.GetJanes.com) that produces Janes TM. Janes offer comfort, coverage and dignity. Janes decrease patient vulnerability, help to build security and self-advocacy, Get Janes™ wellness gowns are an attractive alternative to the traditional, paper-thin hospital gown.

As the first shipment of Janes was sent out in the Fall of 2012, I was diagnosed with uterine cancer. A great way to field test my Janes! Throughout surgery, chemotherapy, radiation and recovery my Jane was my best ally. Janes gave me more than I could have possibly hoped for.

Janes, made in the USA,  are now sold to breast health centers, hospital, VA medical centers and doctor's offices throughout the US. A percent of the profits from sales funds free mammograms for under-served women.

My goal is to bring comfort and dignity to as many women as possible. Women can give the gift of comfort to their friends as a thoughtful and lasting gift. At $55.00 they cost less than flowers!

Thank you so much for your time." - Sharon Linder

We all have been there at some point or another, when we have to awkwardly wear a "Johnny", hospital gown, and remember feeling so uncomfortable.  To know that someone took the time to research and develop a more dignified robe for us to use, men and women, is pretty amazing.  You also contribute to a very good cause, with every gown you purchase, GetJanes gives 2% to fund mammograms for under-served women.  Nothing like helping others. We hope that you take the time to visit GetJanes.

"Sharon Linder founded GetJanes, LLC (www.GetJanes.com), which manufactures high-quality wellness gowns for women. Made of a soft waffle weave knit material, “Janes” emphasize comfort, total coverage and dignity for women of all sizes. The product is a stylish option: whether for the spa, travel,  mammograms, nursing mothers, or medical treatments of any kind."

That is why we partnered up with GetJanes to give one of our readers the chance to win a free ladies robe.

Cooking for Jeffrey
For as long as I can remember I have been a fan of Ina Garten.  She just came out with a new show on Food Network and cookbook Cooking for Jeffrey and I am so excited!  I already watched the first show that aired over the weekend and loved it!  I will be making your grilled bruschetta. Thank you Ina for being amazing and inspiring.

Chanel Nail Polish 2016

Always on the hunt for a seasonal color nail polish...Chanel has some gorgeous rich fall tones right now, I am thinking I may have to invest in a one...and for the cost of a mani or pedi...why not buy a polish so I can do it at home more than once?

Eagle Creek Translucent Specter Pack-It Folders
As I was packing for my trip I knew I had to share this with you.  I've posted my love for the Eagle Creek Pack-It System on Instagram but I need to share it with our readers here.  This particular folder is the BEST THING ever for packing.  I have two medium size pack-it folders and it keeps our clothes orderly and contained.  It compresses your clothes so much that you end up using less space in your luggage which leaves more room for SHOPPING!

Tabbouleh Salad from Narinj Restaurant
My hubby found this local authentic Middle Eastern restaurant, Narinj Restaurant,  a few weeks ago and ladies and gents, I had the best Tabbouleh salad.  The owners are also the cooks and a very nice couple.  Their tabbouleh salad is a-m-a-zing!!! It was so fresh and flavorful.

Hope you give any of our favorites a try.

Stylish Mama:

These beauties have been on my wish list for two years.  Good thing is there are a lot of "knockoff" boots that are hitting the market this fall/winter.  Being a shorty, I will have to do my hunting for the right boot for my height.  But I am certainly not spending $800 on these ones!  Yikes~

My love of tie shirts has me loving this classic bow tie blouse by Kate Spade.  This look always look sharp in black and white.  I have a short sleeve top just like this, but the long sleeve one would make a great addition to a fall/winter wardrobe.

Organized Chica:

She Leaves a Little Sparkle Mug
Pier 1 has this beautiful mug and I immediately fell in love with it. I’m not really a mug person but this one caught my eye, love the message and the gold detail.   If you ask me, in my little organized world, everyone would just have ONE mug, no need for twenty of them.   But back to the real world, this mug is definitely a very stylish way of drinking wine, I mean coffee. Just saying….

Dolores Promesas Heaven Fall/Winter 16/17 Collection -  Floral prints are big this season and my favorite Spaniard actress did it again.  She wore a midi skirt from this collection and looks absolutely stunning.  Perfect look for this colder weather.  The bold flower print against the black is so eye catching.  One of my favorite details are the side pockets.

For the love of pumpkin everything!

Afternoon Tea at the Ocean House, Rhode Island

October 12, 2016

Afternoon Tea or other wise known as High Tea is popular more so in Europe, however you can still find places to visit in New England who carry out the tradition. One thing that I (Stylish Mama) have noticed when visiting different places for High Tea is that every place has their own special menu and way of serving it. Most do provide the traditional scones served with jam and cream, sandwiches, desserts, and a pot of tea.

Afternoon Tea at the Ocean House did not disappoint with their selection of teas and food for high tea.  They offer afternoon tea on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday afternoons from 3-5 pm.  A sample menu can be found online of what to expect when attending.  We requested half of our food to be dairy free and they did meet that dietary request beautifully.  Our selections were a little different form the menu but the basics still applied....and all was YUM!

We were comfortably seated at a love seat in their "living room" at Ocean House.

Deciding on tea, Stylish Mama chose Earl Grey and Organized Chica chose a pomegranate tea.

China was beautifully set for us.

Tea Time!

Scones and in house made raspberry jam with cream

Dessert plate -home made candies, marshmallows, and chocolate covered strawberries with real gold flecks.

Remember ladies, pinky's down, not up.  Its actually not cool to raise your pinky.  You are welcome!

We can't wait to come back.  Already discussing a time to come again for a girls night.  Or maybe just another "working lunch" for us!  Thanks to our server as well, she was unbelievably attentive and made us feel right at home.
