Beauty Product Spotlight: Voluminous Butterfly Mascara by L'oreal

June 25, 2014

Ladies! You must try this new mascara that I've been using lately.  It's amazing.  If you want that long lashes look, this is the mascara for you.  I have to say its right up there with my other favorite, Maybelline The Rocket Volum' Express.

L'oreal Voluminous Butterfly Mascara has a special designed wand, hence the reason why they named it "butterfly".  The butterfly like brush extends, lifts and defines your lashes, specially your outer lashes, beautifully.  It's great to use with your winged eyeliner to get that defined cat-eye look that is very popular now.

The formula applies very smoothly and its super easy to wash off with just soap and water.  No need for harsh rubbing.  Also, it doesn't smudge easily during hot humid summer days.

Ladies give it a try and tell me what you think.  Don't forget to use a coupon to get a better deal.  I'm in love!

Happy mascara shopping!

Dance Recital

June 23, 2014

Well I am exhausted...

Monday mornings are tough, but especially tough after a busy long weekend.

My daughters dance recital was this past weekend.  It was a non stop whirlwind of activity from Friday night until Saturday (late night).  We had rehearsals, party prepping for Saturday, the recital, and then it ended with having a cookout/party on Saturday.

She did great, and the most important thing is that she had fun!!
I think dancing has done so much for her confidence and self esteem.  My daughter takes after me - we don't like to be the center of attention and we do not like the stage lights.  But I have seen her blossom and become more comfortable with the idea of doing it this year compared to last year.

We are very thankful to her dance teacher Denise of Denise Dance Academy in Bellingham, MA for teaching her and coaching her to be the little happy dancer she is.

Here are a few photos of my little bumble bee ballerina:

The Bumble Bee cake was from Whole Foods - they did an amazing job!!!

Mommy and Daughter moment backstage

Oh I almost forgot to mention, Daniella also won a scholarship from The Rylee Fund.  We are so thankful to both Denise and Rylee's mom for that.  That made Daniella feel so special, and mom and dad as well!

Hope you all had a great weekend!

Sick Caddy

June 18, 2014

Not a happy camper today.  The weather is in the high 80s and I'm stuck at home with a bad cold.  Why? Argh I feel awful! Headache, head pressure, hacking up a lung, blowing my nose constantly.  Let's not forget the tissues, vicks, cough drops and the list continues.  You get the picture.

Well since today I've mostly been sleeping and don't feel like getting up to get water or get more cough drops, I just corralled all my necessities into a small box.  I would prefer a basket but didn't have one and you need to work with what you have at home so let me share with you my version of  the "sick caddy".

Everyone's necessities are different so just gather what you need.  Mine are tissues, water bottle, vicks, crackers, lozenges and essential oil for my headache.

Nothing special friends but the convenience is great!

Well I hope you are all enjoying your day, I'm hitting the covers again. Go away cold!!!

Happy Organizing,

Happy Monday!

June 16, 2014

So happy we finally broke out of the rainy grey days we had here in New England recently.  To have sunshine and warmer weather Saturday evening into yesterday was just what I needed to motivate me!  I was motivated to work in my yard.  Any of you out there doing yard work you procrastinated on as well?
Or was it just me?

I also made sure I had some fun down time with family and friends as well.
Saturday night we had friends over, and I made Spanish food.
My new go to appetizer is so simple, I am almost embarrassed to call it a recipe.

It's just two ingredients!

Pineapple and Manchego Cheese Skewers

I saw this pictured on where else...but Pinterest!
I found the Spanish manchego cheese at Trader Joe's and the pineapple was on sale at my local grocery store...it was super sweet and the perfect contrast to the salty goat milk cheese.  You cut up the cheese and pineapple into similar bite size pieces and skewer it on toothpicks...dah dahhhhhh. (that's all folks!)

This is totally my new go to appetizer for summer entertaining!
And along with Sangria...you are sure to make your guests happy.

Hope you all have a great Monday.

Things we are loving/wanting/dreaming of on this Friday

Stylish Mama:

1.
Let's face it...J.Crew has some of the most amazing bauble and statement necklaces around!  I am loving this Dangling Teardrop Necklace.  This yellow is very hot right now, and this necklace would look stunning and is perfect for a statement this summer.

2.

I just bought this makeup kit!! I am so excited about it.  The Summer in Capri kit comes with : baked body frosting in Tahitian glow, baked marble eye shadow in Rome/Milan, voluminous black mascara, and a really pretty lip gloss in a soft melon pink shade.  I am such a huge Laura Geller fan - so I was excited to see she came out with a summer look - and this girl loves bronzer!

Complete obsession! You must try these little treats of joy! They are so yummy! Crunchy Nougat Hello Mini Snacks from Lindt Chocolate. I keep a hidden stash at my desk so for those "pickup moments".

4.

I don't think I ever shared with you my all time favorite Chinese Restaurant, Asia Grille, located in Lincoln, RI.  They make a mean scorpion bowl too! Their food is fresh and tasty.  I am very picky where I eat Chinese and this place does not disappoint.

Baby Angela Update

June 11, 2014

Yesterday a group of our co-workers got all together to take a ride to visit Baby Angela.  They have been wanting to meet her for a while now and the dream came true.  We actually do have a co-worker that had a dream of holding Baby Angela so it really was a dream come true.  Angela is doing so well after her operation.  Her mom gave us all "Anencephaly Awareness" bracelets that we were so happy and proud of wearing right away, even Angela had to show hers off. Here are a few of the pictures we took to capture this beautiful moment.  We returned to work energized and happy.  Angela has touched our hearts in so many ways and I can say, I'm definitely not the same person I was when I met her.

This is Angela's big sister,
Elizabeth

Angela was quite comfortable

The girls got emotional just overjoyed to see how strong Angela has been despite her young age.  She is a fighter.  Made us put things in perspective, when you think you are having a bad day, think of Angela and what her family is going through.  We just wanted to share this with you all.  I'll keep updating this post with more pictures as I obtain them from the girls.

Happy Hump Day!

Styling your Pool

June 9, 2014

Who doesn't enjoy a good pool day?  I know myself, I am always a kid again when at the pool.

Now that summer weather is finally here, I cannot wait to be at the pool.  Sunglasses on, favorite swimsuit on, cocktail in one hand and a book in the other. Here are a few cute things that could make your pool or your friends pool (which would be the case for me) into a fun place to hang out!

Mod-Cloth Donut float
Adorable right? Why not incorporate some fun floats that both kids and adults can enjoy!

West Elm Pom Pom Throws
Pom Pom's are the in accessory for clothing, scarves and now blankets and throws.  Love these fun colors for the summer.  Why not hang hooks outside your home so these can be ready to grab...or maybe a basket with a few of them near your lounge chairs...speaking of...

Target Threshold - Bryant Patio Chairs
Love this sleek and modern style for lounging...say good bye to the tacky plastic lawn furniture.
And with lounging, you should have a bar cart near by...

Target Threshold Bryant Bart Cart

Now you need outdoor glassware for the cart right? But you wouldn't want anything that is breakable by the pool. When I was in Pottery Barn last time I was eyeing these outdoor "glassware"  - I swear you would think these are glass...just ask Organized Chica.  Her and I kept picking them up and tapping them...in disbelief that they were plastic.  So real looking!

Potter Barn Outdoor Pitcher and Tumblers

Lastly why not have a fun book to have on display for your pool guests to flip threw...

Vintage Swimwear by Jill Salen

This book is full of neat photos of Vintage Swimwear and the history behind them.  Fun reading for any fashion girl!

Happy Summer my friends.
See you at the pool!

Things we are loving/wanting/dreaming of on this Friday

Stylish Mama:

1. Recently with my new role at work I have been getting really into "styling" my desk.  I find it helps to personalize my work space with those little touches that helps make me smile and or happy.  It's the little things...
I have been really gravitating to hot pink as my "happy color" for my desk.  Tell me any girl who loves cake wouldn't love this??

Kate Spade Eat Cake for Breakfast Paperweight

2.
Holding my ticket...in disbelief that I was about to see John Legend perform!

If you hadn't heard already - I saw John Legend last Monday Nite at Hanover Theater in Worcester, MA. And man oh man did he not disappoint.  My favorite part of the show was how intimate it all felt.  He opened up by saying he wanted all those in the audience to feel like they were hanging out with him in his living room.  And that is how it really felt.  If you ever get the opportunity to see this man live.  Do it! And go with someone you love...makes it all that much better.

Organized Chica:

Cirque Du Soleil - Alma/Luna
Last night our dear friends took us to see a Cirque Du Soleil show in Boston, MA.  I love Cirque Du Soleil, this is my third show and they never disappoint.  I saw them perform in Las Vegas when I went a few years ago and since then we are hooked.  If you have a chance to catch their show in your area, please do so.  Their story line, their talents, the lighting, the details, its all amazing! Thank you once again Marie and Roly - Cirque Du Soleil will always be our "thing".

4.

Who is a Soccer fan?  I am!!! Big Soccer fan!! So I am excited for the Fifa World Cup to start in 6 days! I was brought up watching soccer and going to the games.  I attended games during the World Cup '94.  Soccer is huge in Colombia, we joke that you can't call yourself Colombian if you don't like soccer.  I have my favorite teams picked out already and I can't wait to watch them play.  We jump, we laugh, we yell at the TV, it gets intense.  Will you be watching?

May Favorites...A little of everything

June 3, 2014

May was a very hectic and crazy month and I am hoping that June will be better.  As Stylish Mama mentioned in yesterdays post, we have had a lot of changes in our 9-5 job and its been overwhelming at times, taking a toll on us in many ways.  Change can be bumpy at times and sometimes it takes time to learn how to ride the waves.  Meanwhile I try to juggle everything else and somehow get some energy back, I am determined to enjoy my summer to the fullest! I was looking back in the month of May and apparently stress makes me eat alot...lol So I thought I would share with you a few of my favorites for the month of May, a little of everything.

Best steak tip dinner hands down!!!!! You must try.
Conrads Restaurant:
Steak Tips Dinner w/ mashed potatoes

I posted this on Instagram when I went, this place is so cool.  Everything is organic and full of flavor.  Definitely a place to check out if your in the Providence area.
Flatbread Company

I can't tell you how much I love, love, love seafood! Combine it with rice and other flavors and you have one of my favorite dishes, Paella.  Now I have had my share of Paellas and ladies and gents, this place, for me, is the place to go to eat it.  Its amazing! Don't take my word for it, go try it out for yourself. Paella, Portuguese style. Not to mention that the restaurant has a beautiful courtyard.
Riviera Restaurant: Paella

This Portuguese restaurant doesn't disappoint ever.  The service, the food, the prices, the drinks...etc its all excellent. I usually get their roasted chicken with fries and this time we wanted to try something new, wow!
Churrascaria Marques Grill & Restaurant:
House Shrimp, Sangria, Surf & Turf

My favorite water of all time, I know that many may be like what's the big deal but FIJI water is so yummy.  I can tell the difference or maybe my brain plays tricks on me since visiting FIJI is an ultimate dream.  Then there's San Pellegrino, whose Mineral Water I love as well but I wanted to try the Blood Orange drink.  Oh my this is so good!

I think you can notice my trend of favorite things! FOOD!! lol  What can I say? I can eat!

I also wanted to share two sayings that I found at my local Home Goods, anyone go in there wishing to buy the entire store? I know I do. I want everything for my house.

To finish off my post, I'll share with you one of my favorite moments in the month of May.  BamBam has always had a hard time relaxing in the car so to see him enjoy the breeze brought a smile to my face.  We had a family day at Newport and we took him, he loves it as much as his mama does.  BamBam was enjoying the ocean breeze.  Doesn't he look absolutely adorable?

How was your May?

Happy June,

We are back!!!

June 2, 2014

Have you missed us?

We missed blogging!

To tell you the truth things have been crazy busy over here for both Organized Chica and myself.  We both work in the same office together for our secular jobs.  And recently we have been under a new restructure.  So with anything it takes some time getting use to them.  I should also mention Organized Chica received a promotion at work.  I am so proud of her!!  Such a beauty and has the brain power behind it too!

Also, this past weekend we both had co-celebrated our anniversaries with our husbands.  Her anniversary with her husband is actually this month and I just celebrated mine in May.  So we decided we would go to one of favorite places to dine in RI.  Spain restaurant, of Cranston, RI.

Organized Chica and Stylish Mama pre-dinner at Spain, RI

Have you ever been?

Photos from Spain, website

This is what we had for dinner? Are you hungry yet?
Swordfish ~ Paella ~ Pork Tenderloins with Mashed Potato

Bread Pudding ~ Cheesecake with a Creme Brulee top layer

If, not...what are you waiting for?

Everyone takes a bathroom selfie with their BFF right?

So getting back to the restaurant...the food is simply amazing.  And the service and presentation is always on point.

We both order the same dish each time - and share it.
Paellla for two.  Which actually feeds 4!  Its huge!

We had a fabulous time and I think I can speak for the both of us in saying...we are so fortunate to have met and married two amazing guys!

My hubby actually surprised me with tickets to see John Legend tonight in concert!!  I am so excited.  I really have loved his music for years now...but I know this year especially his music has taken off so much.  It should be a fun romantic night out...and guess what...its in the 80's here in New England.  So it finally feels like summer!!!! Or should I say...Summah!!!

Thank you to all of patient and kind readers who understood our little break last week.
But now that we are back...we want to be better than ever!
