Organized Chica:
Boy it's been a really long time. To say that our lives have been crazy, is a huge understatement. I feel I have let myself down because I haven't been able to invest the time or energy to the blog. I look back to when Kim and I first started and we were so passionate about it and looking for new ideas all the time. I know that even some of you have stopped asking when our next post will be because we couldn't even answer that ourselves. Lots has happen, with our personal lives, some good and others well, not so good. I won't say bad because I always think that my problems, compared to others, are nothing. Many people out there have worse things happening to them so it makes your own life seem like nothing is wrong. Overall though, despite of all our challenges, we have been blessed in so many ways.
So in my case, what has prevented me from dedicating time to the blog? Well its been a number of different things, but one that stands out is my 9-5 day job. What can I say? It sucks the life right out of me. To the point where when I get home, which most nights it's too late, I try to eat dinner, shower and go straight to bed. I am so mentally, emotional and physically drained that I have no creative sparks left in me.
Weekends are left for me to catch-up on all my housework, errands and rest. My family and I try our best to spend Sunday evenings together at home. I'm not much of going out to begin with, specially in the winter so Sundays to me, are very special. It's the day I can relax and prepare for the week ahead.
So what have I been up to? Well its been an interesting few months, that's for sure. Both of my parents health were affected in different ways. I'm sure some of you know how helpless you feel when your parents are not OK. It has been a slow recovery for both of them but fortunately, they both are healthy people overall so I can see them bounce back up to some normality.
Fun:
I was able to enjoy Newport Restaurant Week last month with friends and we enjoyed a scrumptious dinner at 22 Bowen's Wine Bar & Grille. Excuse the poor quality images but the restaurant lighting was very low and these images do not do any justice. Make sure you try this place out next time you are in the Newport, RI area.
I also went in for a hair makeover at my hairdresser, so after like 100 selfies, here is the best one. (I think....lol) Out with the blonde highlights and in with chocolate brown for the winter.
To finish my post I do want to give a major shout out to my BFF, Kim aka Stylish Mama. She was promoted to another position within the company we work for and she is enjoying it. Our department loss is a huge gain to her new team. They are very very fortunate to have you my friend. I am very proud of you for so many reasons. You followed your gut and you kept pursuing your true priorities in life, one of them being spending more quality time with your family. You are a hard worker and it was an honor to work with you all these years. I will miss you tremendously and wish for the day when we can work together again. Love you my friend and congrats once again!!
Stylish Mama:
Well after reading Organized Chicas entry...I feel like no matter what excuse I use as to not blogging will even come close to all she has been through. My poor buddy has truly experienced a busy and emotional few months. I am always thinking about her and her family and hoping everything is ok.
So no excuses here other than pure laziness on my part.
And maybe the fact that my brain being has been feeling a little fried lately! Freshman syndrome at work (being in a new role at work) has truly made me feel tired and drained most days. Although I love what I am learning and love my job...it has made me extra tired and less motivated to hop on the computer to blog when I get home.
I have had an exciting month and have enjoyed the fact that I am spending more time with my family overall. I was able to tour some wineries in RI and fell in love with one that Organized Chica recommended to me. So if you ever visit RI or live here, you need to check out Sakonnet Winery, its not only gorgeous but it also has some great red and white wines. Already planning a summer trip here with a picnic lunch!
I look forward to next week as I have vacation planned and spending some quality time with my family. I know your thinking you just started a new job and you already have a vacation? Yup! That's right!!!
I wanted to thank everyone for their patience and more importantly support and love over the past few weeks. It means everything to us that we have you as our readers let us know what you enjoy most about our posts...that way we can maybe post more about those sort of things. Please take a moment to post a comment about what you want to see us blog more about!
Oh and make sure to follow us on Instagram @stylishmeetsorganized to see what we are up to! Stay tuned.....more posts to come soon!
With love!

keeping our furry friends warm
November 14, 2014
All of us dog lovers out there are often looking to find the latest and greatest for our furry children. Including ways to keep them warm during the colder months. I was so excited when my brother and sister in law located in Maine reached to me with their idea of making dog coats. And when he sent me one for my adorable King Charles Cavalier Bruin, I knew I had to share this line with you all.
Lord & Lady Dog Coats are custom made and are taken from 100% wool vintage Hudson Bay Blankets. These coats have a bottom layer of faux Sherpa fleece (warm and cozy) and the Velcro straps on the sides make it very easy to put on and take off your pet.
Here are a few photos of my adorable Bruin in his new fancy Lord & Lady Coat.

Stylish Mama's Fashion Picks for October 2014
October 20, 2014
You won't be surprised by the fact that I have been already complaining about the shorter days and colder nights. However I am one who does love switching up clothes in my closet...and there is always something desirable about warm and cozy options. I am going to share with you a few picks I have and none of them are frumpy sweat pants or flannels that we are all tempted in wearing, lets face it ladies! Here are some stylish picks for this fall:
How amazing is this June And Hudson Fall Maxi dress? Love how comfortable it looks yet it still is very stylish. Every girl has to have a little animal print in their wardrobe no matter the season, right?
This is a great wrap style skirt that can be worn to the office with heels or can be paired with dressy heeled boots. Its made by Top Shop.
Anyone else totally obsessed with vests? I love layering a vest with a great long sleeve blouse or shirt in the fall. Its a great way to complete your look yet be functional as it keeps you warm. I am in love with this Michael Kors Quilted Down Vest.
Here is a boot that I am severely in love with. How cozy do they look? The Fulton Boot by Micheal Kors is extremely attractive...hello gorgeous!!! I need you in my life.
There are so many cute scarves at Nordstrom right now - This one grabbed my attention as it looks warm and a neutral color that would easily go with many looks. Its pretty affordable too! - B.P. Popcorn Stitch Infinity Scarf is only $24!
Happy Shopping!

Product Review: Sally Hansen Miracle Gel
October 6, 2014
I have a nail polish love/hate relationship. Love how my nails look when they are painted. I even have an entire board on Pinterest on beautiful nail designs and colors that I would love to try. Hate having to wait for it to dry and hate how my nail polish starts chipping the next day of getting them done. Hence the reason why you will almost never see me with my nails done.
My dream is to always have perfectly well manicured painted nails but that's a rare occasion. I am blessed that my nails grow on their own and very quickly but for some reason nail polish doesn't stay on very long. Trust me, I've done the whole 3 steps, 4 steps, etc. Bottom coat, 2 coats of color, top coat, etc. Nothing. I was told recently that its because some nails are too oily or are too moist for nail polish to stay on so they start chipping quickly.
But then I found the best nail polish ever!!!!!!!!! Did you read that? BEST NAIL POLISH EVER!!!
Sally Hansen Miracle Gel is hands down the best thing I've tried, I've done the shellac and it works great but it damages your nail by leaving it weak. This miracle gel acts just like shellac but without the light and it won't damage your nails. Easy removal! Sally Hansen states that the color will stay on for 14 days, that wasn't my experience but maybe if you are willing to do some touch up in between, it may work.
Below are images of my nails that I took as the week went on to show you all how long the nail polish really stayed on. You can see that by Day 5, just one nail was badly chipped and the shine was gone. Realistically, I guess I could have touched up that nail and redo the top coat on all my nails but by this time, I was tired of the color....lol
It was really quick to apply as well. Two coats of nail polish color and one coat of the top coat. Nails were dry in minutes! No waiting! Did I mention I hate waiting? Very inpatient when it comes for nails to dry. I know, I have issues but what can I say, time is precious!!
Happy Nails!

Swarovski Rhody Blogger Event
September 30, 2014
We are very excited to share with you our experience at the Swarovski Headquarters here in Cranston, Rhode Island. We were invited to take a peek at Swarovski's Fall Collection and introduce us to another side of Swarovski… Touchstone Crystal! More details below.
We were like two girls in a candy store!!! We loved everything and could envision us wearing a lot of pieces! Here are a few of our favorites and an inside view to their employee store.
Here we are trying out some bling bling for our a stacked bracelet look - which we learned was called an "arm party". We have no idea how we didn't buy these! It took a lot of will power. We weren't alone, we met some amazing local Rhode Island bloggers that we were able to interact with.
Now, the highlight of our evening. Swarovski now has a direct selling brand, Touchstone Crystals and here at Stylish Mama meets Organized Chica, we love it!!
Stay tuned to see what we chose and how you can purchase this exclusive jewelry line from Swarovski!

First week of Fall
September 22, 2014
This week brings fall. And with that means two things I am not too fond of...Falling Leaves and Cold Air.
However there are lots to be happy about!
Here are just a few that I am excited about: (disclaimer if you are hungry...most of my list is food related!)
1. PSL (for all of you who are not familiar that would be Pumpkin Spice Latte!)
2. Apple Pie
3. Apple Picking
4. Cider Donuts
5. Sweaters
6. Boots
7. Scarves
8. Apple Cider
9. Baking
10. Crock Pot Meals
So that last one on the list brings me to why I am posting today...
Crock Pot meals are essential during the cooler months. A great way to come home on a cold day is to come home to something warm and ready for you to enjoy for a meal.
Here is a go to recipe that I have made time and time again...also a popular one on football Sunday...notice that was not a favorite on my fall favorite list. Boo to football...however I am a good wife and love to make my hubby happy. And this fall dish certainly makes my man happy.
Diablo Chicken Chili
1 to 2lbs of boneless chicken breasts cut up into small pieces
2 cloves of garlic, minced
4 tsp. of chili powder
4 tsp of ground cumin
1 green pepper chopped
1 red pepper chopped
2 small onions chopped
1 8oz package of sliced mushrooms
2 carrots chopped
1 28 oz can of crushed tomatoes
1 28 oz can of tomato puree
1 jalapeno pepper chopped
1 can of kidney beans
1 can of black beans
2 tsp salt
1/2 tsp pepper
2 tbsp brown sugar
Its as simple as this - mix all the above ingredients - dump into a crock pot, set the crock pot on high for 8 hours and its ready to be enjoyed!

Summer loving had me a blast, oh yeah Summer loving happened so fast!
September 16, 2014
Now that we have that Grease song in your head...we have got your attention!
We're back! Did you miss us?
So what did I do this Summer?
I was able to visit Hampton Beach in New Hampshire. This beach is awesome, it's very clean but watch out for the crowds, better arrive early or you'll be caught in the crowd. I also visited a few of Connecticut's vineyards which we were absolutely beautiful. Vineyards is something that was introduced to me by a dear friend a few years ago and ever since I've been hooked. Went to NYC for a few days, visited local beaches, had an awesome Girls Nite Out with my ladies and tried to soak in the sun whenever it was possible.
Two new things for me that I started this Summer was joining the gym and couponing. I have so much to share with you on the new things I've learned.
We appreciate how some of you were asking if we were going to continue with the blog. We had friends tell us that they missed reading our posts. That itself was a nice reminder that we do matter, even if its just a little. Between work and summer plans, our energy was consumed and we felt that we couldn't really dedicate the time the blog deserved. We won't promise you that we will post everyday or every other day because things are still very hectic. We want the blog to be meaningful to us and you. We want to enjoy having this little "baby" and seeing it grow but all at it's time. We want to transmit to you what we have been up to and what we are loving in the moment and not feel the burden of just posting about something meaningless to you or us just so we can post. We will do our best to post as much as we can and that is OK with us.
On that note, thank you for not forgetting about us. We are back to stay!

We're back! Did you miss us?
Anyone else feel like summer has come and gone way too quick? Both of us are such summer girls that its hard to think that summer is slowly escaping us. Only a few more warm sunny days left this year...quick, time for one more margarita, one more squeezing into that bathing suit, one more time to wear flip flops, and possibly wearing white before you get too many crazy looks!
We thought a good way to catch up is to talk a little about our summer and some of the things we were up to.
Stylish Mama:
My family and I really had fun enjoying all that our fabulous New England has to offer! We started our summer vacation enjoying the local area...we went to the Southwick Zoo, Boston Commons (swan boats are just as wonderful as I remember from childhood), Cape Cod (Dennis, MA), Great Wolf Lodge in Northen Mass, Story Land in NH, Lincoln NH, and lastly Maine.
Wow, looking over all my summer photos we really did do a lot!!
There has been some changes in my life...including my daughter attending preschool two days a week. For those of you who talk to me on the regular basis you will know this has become one of the biggest struggles thus far in my life. My daughter hasn't warmed up to the idea of being away from us and my parents who have helped watch her the past 4 years. Separation anxiety in full swing...hoping the months ahead will be good ones. (anyone have that margarita yet?)
Well there is nothing like blogging to keep your mind off the stressful times and all the mind clutter it brings with it. I am fully ready and motivated to start blogging and getting this mind onto the things I do actually love about the fall months approaching...like pumpkin everything, cozy sweaters, hunter boots, and warm comfort food.
Organized Chica:
Nooooooooooooo!!! Summer can't be over in 4 days!!! Why? Oh man, back to my miserable self I guess. I'll be in hibernation if anyone needs me. (I wish!)
Wish I could say that I went away somewhere on vacation but the truth be told, I worked hard none-stop. Being promoted right before Summer took a toll on all summer plans. I would punch in but not know what time I would punch out. I've been trying really hard to simplify my schedule since I was trying to do too many things at once in addition to my 9-5 job, not a realistic or healthy choice so I started cutting back. I'm still tweaking things but at least I'm starting to feel that I can breathe again, sometimes.
I was looking forward to my summer to enjoy it to the fullest but that didn't quite happen. Although I did do a few fun things and made sure to make it to the beach twice at least. Summer this year in New England was a bit weird. We had our really hot days but most of the time it was cooler weather then what we are accustomed to, although I know of many that preferred this weather overall.

long weekends are pretty great!
July 7, 2014
Hopefully everyone enjoyed their long weekend (if you were able to have one)...I know I definitely did! I am thinking every weekend should be a long one especially during the summer months!
My family really took advantage of each day off - we did so much!! But at the same time we took advantage of trying to catch up on rest and relaxation.
First day we had off we went to the zoo. The Southwicks Zoo in Mendon is a definite must for local New England families. It such a great zoo - lots of animals from your typical lions to tigers...but what makes Mendon a little more unique I think is their up close and personal shows with animals. And their interactive petting zoo area as well as their deer park (which you can walk around with deer that are not caged and are roam free). Such a hit for the little ones.
Here is my daughter in the petting zoo (which we went inside twice per her request).

I bought these cropped pants - and in my opinion they are your "perfect summer pants!"

So comfortable and pretty...

If it was also on sale...I would have!
So hopefully you all enjoyed your long weekend as much as I have.
I am feeling a little more refreshed, relaxed, and tan!

Busy with Summer
July 2, 2014
Morning to all!
We want to apologize for not keeping up with the blog like we have had in the past. Things have gotten very hectic for us and let's not mention its FINALLY SUMMER so we are trying to enjoy every ounce of it. We have so many ideas for the blog but its been a matter of time really. We don't want the blog to become a burden for us but more like our escape to express our creativity. We did stop posting everyday due to our busy schedules. We are trying Monday, Wednesday and Fridays. Let's see how that schedule goes. We are learning as we go to balance the blog and our personal life so please bear with us.
To catch you all up, I've been battling whatever it is that I got. I'm still not 100% better so back to the doctor I go. I've been sick since the real heat kicked in so technically I haven't really enjoyed it yet. Big bummer people since this is my favorite season!!
One positive note of my summer has been watching the World Cup. I know its not that big of a deal in the USA but let me tell you that USA performed great to their end. They got very far and kudos to them for making it to that point. Some of my favorite teams that I was routing for have been already eliminated so let's see how my home team plays this Friday against Brazil. It will be a nail biting event...lol
What have you done so far this summer? Anything excited?
Happy Summer,
Organized Chica, xox

June 25, 2014
Ladies! You must try this new mascara that I've been using lately. It's amazing. If you want that long lashes look, this is the mascara for you. I have to say its right up there with my other favorite, Maybelline The Rocket Volum' Express.
L'oreal Voluminous Butterfly Mascara has a special designed wand, hence the reason why they named it "butterfly". The butterfly like brush extends, lifts and defines your lashes, specially your outer lashes, beautifully. It's great to use with your winged eyeliner to get that defined cat-eye look that is very popular now.
The formula applies very smoothly and its super easy to wash off with just soap and water. No need for harsh rubbing. Also, it doesn't smudge easily during hot humid summer days.
Ladies give it a try and tell me what you think. Don't forget to use a coupon to get a better deal. I'm in love!
Happy mascara shopping!

Dance Recital
June 23, 2014
Well I am exhausted...
Monday mornings are tough, but especially tough after a busy long weekend.
My daughters dance recital was this past weekend. It was a non stop whirlwind of activity from Friday night until Saturday (late night). We had rehearsals, party prepping for Saturday, the recital, and then it ended with having a cookout/party on Saturday.
She did great, and the most important thing is that she had fun!!
I think dancing has done so much for her confidence and self esteem. My daughter takes after me - we don't like to be the center of attention and we do not like the stage lights. But I have seen her blossom and become more comfortable with the idea of doing it this year compared to last year.
We are very thankful to her dance teacher Denise of Denise Dance Academy in Bellingham, MA for teaching her and coaching her to be the little happy dancer she is.
Here are a few photos of my little bumble bee ballerina:

Oh I almost forgot to mention, Daniella also won a scholarship from The Rylee Fund. We are so thankful to both Denise and Rylee's mom for that. That made Daniella feel so special, and mom and dad as well!
Hope you all had a great weekend!

Sick Caddy
June 18, 2014
Not a happy camper today. The weather is in the high 80s and I'm stuck at home with a bad cold. Why? Argh I feel awful! Headache, head pressure, hacking up a lung, blowing my nose constantly. Let's not forget the tissues, vicks, cough drops and the list continues. You get the picture.
Well since today I've mostly been sleeping and don't feel like getting up to get water or get more cough drops, I just corralled all my necessities into a small box. I would prefer a basket but didn't have one and you need to work with what you have at home so let me share with you my version of the "sick caddy".
Everyone's necessities are different so just gather what you need. Mine are tissues, water bottle, vicks, crackers, lozenges and essential oil for my headache.
Nothing special friends but the convenience is great!
Well I hope you are all enjoying your day, I'm hitting the covers again. Go away cold!!!

Happy Monday!
June 16, 2014
So happy we finally broke out of the rainy grey days we had here in New England recently. To have sunshine and warmer weather Saturday evening into yesterday was just what I needed to motivate me! I was motivated to work in my yard. Any of you out there doing yard work you procrastinated on as well?
Or was it just me?
I also made sure I had some fun down time with family and friends as well.
Saturday night we had friends over, and I made Spanish food.
My new go to appetizer is so simple, I am almost embarrassed to call it a recipe.
It's just two ingredients!
I saw this pictured on where else...but Pinterest!
I found the Spanish manchego cheese at Trader Joe's and the pineapple was on sale at my local grocery store...it was super sweet and the perfect contrast to the salty goat milk cheese. You cut up the cheese and pineapple into similar bite size pieces and skewer it on toothpicks...dah dahhhhhh. (that's all folks!)
This is totally my new go to appetizer for summer entertaining!
And along with Sangria...you are sure to make your guests happy.
Hope you all have a great Monday.

5 Fab Friday

Things we are loving/wanting/dreaming of on this Friday
Stylish Mama:
1.
Let's face it...J.Crew has some of the most amazing bauble and statement necklaces around! I am loving this Dangling Teardrop Necklace. This yellow is very hot right now, and this necklace would look stunning and is perfect for a statement this summer.

I just bought this makeup kit!! I am so excited about it. The Summer in Capri kit comes with : baked body frosting in Tahitian glow, baked marble eye shadow in Rome/Milan, voluminous black mascara, and a really pretty lip gloss in a soft melon pink shade. I am such a huge Laura Geller fan - so I was excited to see she came out with a summer look - and this girl loves bronzer!

Complete obsession! You must try these little treats of joy! They are so yummy! Crunchy Nougat Hello Mini Snacks from Lindt Chocolate. I keep a hidden stash at my desk so for those "pickup moments".
I don't think I ever shared with you my all time favorite Chinese Restaurant, Asia Grille, located in Lincoln, RI. They make a mean scorpion bowl too! Their food is fresh and tasty. I am very picky where I eat Chinese and this place does not disappoint.

Baby Angela Update
June 11, 2014
Yesterday a group of our co-workers got all together to take a ride to visit Baby Angela. They have been wanting to meet her for a while now and the dream came true. We actually do have a co-worker that had a dream of holding Baby Angela so it really was a dream come true. Angela is doing so well after her operation. Her mom gave us all "Anencephaly Awareness" bracelets that we were so happy and proud of wearing right away, even Angela had to show hers off. Here are a few of the pictures we took to capture this beautiful moment. We returned to work energized and happy. Angela has touched our hearts in so many ways and I can say, I'm definitely not the same person I was when I met her.
This is Angela's big sister, Elizabeth |

Angela was quite comfortable |
The girls got emotional just overjoyed to see how strong Angela has been despite her young age. She is a fighter. Made us put things in perspective, when you think you are having a bad day, think of Angela and what her family is going through. We just wanted to share this with you all. I'll keep updating this post with more pictures as I obtain them from the girls.
Happy Hump Day!

Styling your Pool
June 9, 2014
Who doesn't enjoy a good pool day? I know myself, I am always a kid again when at the pool.
Adorable right? Why not incorporate some fun floats that both kids and adults can enjoy!
Pom Pom's are the in accessory for clothing, scarves and now blankets and throws. Love these fun colors for the summer. Why not hang hooks outside your home so these can be ready to grab...or maybe a basket with a few of them near your lounge chairs...speaking of...
Now that summer weather is finally here, I cannot wait to be at the pool. Sunglasses on, favorite swimsuit on, cocktail in one hand and a book in the other. Here are a few cute things that could make your pool or your friends pool (which would be the case for me) into a fun place to hang out!
Mod-Cloth Donut float |
West Elm Pom Pom Throws |
Target Threshold - Bryant Patio Chairs |
Love this sleek and modern style for lounging...say good bye to the tacky plastic lawn furniture.
And with lounging, you should have a bar cart near by...
Target Threshold Bryant Bart Cart |
Now you need outdoor glassware for the cart right? But you wouldn't want anything that is breakable by the pool. When I was in Pottery Barn last time I was eyeing these outdoor "glassware" - I swear you would think these are glass...just ask Organized Chica. Her and I kept picking them up and tapping them...in disbelief that they were plastic. So real looking!
Potter Barn Outdoor Pitcher and Tumblers |
Lastly why not have a fun book to have on display for your pool guests to flip threw...
Vintage Swimwear by Jill Salen |
This book is full of neat photos of Vintage Swimwear and the history behind them. Fun reading for any fashion girl!
Happy Summer my friends.
See you at the pool!
