Making a come back to blogging, and a review on Jacky's Waterplace & Sushi Bar

September 7, 2016

Hi everyone!  Gosh we missed this!  Blogging.  Our lives have been hectic like everyone else's...but one thing is for sure, we have been slacking big time with our blog posts.  We really are getting into the swing of things with new ideas on blogging and what we want to post.  So please keep checking back in the next few weeks. Hopefully you missed us too.

What a better way to kick off  our blogging other then with food!

Dining at Jacky's Waterplace & Sushi Bar has been on our radar for quite sometime.  We finally made plans to visit it together this past weekend.  Perfect place for a "business" meeting.

We had no idea how popular of a spot it was.  We thought since it was a Sunday evening we could easily get right in for a table for two.  Well we were wrong...the wait list that evening was booked until 9pm!  So we decided we would still go and eat at the bar.  Dedicated, I know!

We started off with two appetizers to share:

Coconut Shrimp and Scallion Pancakes
We asked our server what she would recommend for a shrimp dish, and she said the coconut shrimp with mango sauce was a popular item on their menu.  We liked it and thought the shrimp was delicious, but both agreed the sauce might have been a little on the sweet side. Marilyn really wanted the scallion pancakes and wow, am I glad she did  They were outstanding and the garlic soy sauce it came with was perfection!  This is a dish we both recommend getting if you visit.

For our main entree we decided on the Shanghai Noodles with chicken, pork, and shrimp.  The noodles were very crunchy/crispy and a little difficult to eat.  With that being said, the meat, shrimp and vegetables were all cooked perfectly and was very tasty.

We also opted for a dish we spotted a patron enjoying next to us.  We both love asparagus, so we knew we had to try it when we saw it.

Asparagus in Oyster Sauce
The asparagus in oyster sauce was one of our favorite dishes at Jacky's.  The asparagus was so fresh and prepared on the al dente with the oyster sauce. Plus, it kind of made us feel like we were eating something on the healthy side...hee hee.

Also we enjoyed their cocktails, not shown here as we were too busy enjoying them!!  Marilyn got a Mai Tai and said it was smooth and yummy and I ordered the green tea martini, which did taste like unsweetened green tea, only kicked up a notch!

We both agreed we would be back again to try more off the menu...but those scallion pancakes and asparagus will mostly likely be ordered again...craving them already!!

Note to all you readers, make sure you plan ahead if you are visiting this establishment and make reservations for dinning.

Here is the 10 second video we shared with you on Instastories. (If you don't already follow us on Instagram, check us out, we post a lot more there) We apologize for the quality but we needed to share this room with you on this post.  Marilyn was obsessed with it.  And check out that gorgeous light!  The room had so much energy, perfect place for an intimate dinner with close friends.

Happy Dinning,

Love,  Stylish Mama
