Product Review: Seventh Generation

Let me start off by saying that these are solely my opinions based on my experience with the product. Everyone may have different results and may prefer some products over others.  That being said, let me give you my honest opinion of two products that I tried this week.

As I finish up with my various cleaning products, I decided that I would do my homework and start replacing them for "greener" and "natural" products.  I'm guilty to say that I've really just stuck to the same products that I've known all along.  They work great, smell great so why change? Well as time has passed on, we all want to do our share to be "green" for health benefits.  A few weeks ago, Stylish Mama made a comment on how bad the fumes are from the traditional cleaning products and I never really thought about it, mind you I'm very sensitive to scents.

On my Target Cartwheel app, I saw the perfect opportunity to try and save on my new adventure.  Seventh Generation products had a 20% off at Target. Perfect!  Target trip!! (Any excuse to shop at Target)  I needed a all-purpose cleaner and a tile shower cleaner.  After making my purchase, it was time to try them out at home.  Cleaning time!! (Yes I get excited about cleaning)

The test consisted of everyone in my household to try them out.  Verdict?

All-Purpose Natural  Cleaner - The product works okay, its not my favorite.  It did its job but didn't leave my surfaces sparkling clean.  This cleaner has no scent whatsoever so if you want an everyday cleaner but can't handle the fumes, this may be the product for you.

Tub & Tile Natural Cleaner - Not for me.  It leaves like a slippery feel to the tub, didn't really cut through the soap scum.  The citrus scent was a good sign that the tub got washed down but nothing else.

Conclusion: Not worth my buck but that is solely my opinion.  They have many other products in their line that I may find that work for me.  I continue on my "greener" and "natural" adventure.  Any suggestions?

Happy Hump Day!

I am not really looking forward to this hump day as I have agreed to sign up for a mom's dance class tonight. I have a few fellow "dance moms" who kind of pressured me into doing a dance routine for my daughters upcoming dance recital this summer.  I might enjoy dancing...but not for a large audience and especially in the home town where I grew up!  eek!

Anyway, there is nothing like a little online browsing and shopping to take my mind off things.

Thinking outdoors

That time when you admire everyone else grass and yards and wish yours would look half decent.  Ok, well maybe it's just me. Every Spring comes when I just day dream of what my yards can look like.  The potential it has and the oasis I would love to create. 

Here are a few inspirations that I've found on Pinterest that I would like to incorporate in my yard design.  (hint hint Mr. Handyman)

I have to be realistic of my designs, if I had the money and space, my backyard would be magical but I need to think practical here.  I'm picking designs that go very well with my current setup.  The idea of having fire-pit has been on my radar for a long time.

Covering up my back porch to accommodate for furniture is not a bad idea.  I would fall asleep out there.  It looks so inviting.  Anyone would like a lemonade?

Doesn't this Pier1 Imports furniture look so cozy and inviting.  I'll settle for this if I can' t afford to redo my yard this summer.  Its the perfect size and I love how you can pull over the cover if you want it or push back.

I have endless amounts of ideas and wishes.  Now if only I could get the Yard Crashers from HGTV to come to my home, I'd be golden.

Cooking with Stylish Mama

We were invited to a dinner party and we also hosted a dinner party this weekend...so that meant I was able to try new recipes!

I really fell in love with these new dishes and got many compliments on both so I was excited to blog about them this morning.

The first dish is one I found by my girl Martha Stewart.  It's an Asparagus and Carrot Slaw.  And it's a great side dish for the season we are in. It has Carrots, Asparagus, Red Onion and Mint with a simple lemon dressing.  So simple, clean, delish, and easy on the waistline.

The next recipe I wanted to share with you was a new Pavlova I tried making.  I found it on William Sonoma's website...and believe it or not, I love getting recipes from Williams Sonoma!  This Pavlova with Lime Curd and Berries will impress your guests and is not really that difficult to make.  (I added toasted coconut to mine, which is the only change I made to the recipe you can find at the link above)

Organization: DVD Collection

I'm not one to buy movies unless the movie has a meaning to me or it just really hits home.  I refuse to have a mini blockbuster in my home for many reasons. One of them being is space, movies can take up so much room and it doesn't really always look pretty. Also, let's face it, if I had a huge movie collection, I would have to alphabetize it, color code it, you name it, library style.

So let me share with you how I store my DVD's for now.  

I saw this DVD binder at the Container Store that I really want to buy so I can avoid having separate binders and all the new movies can fit in nicely.  The Container Store can't open quick enough for me :)

You can also purchase a binder, like the ones below, and DVD protector sheets separately and build your own organization storage for your movies.
