Let's do this! 30 Day Wall Sit Challenge

February 6, 2014

Guess what we're doing? We are going to follow our own advise.  Sometimes to reach a goal, you need to publicly make a commitment and that's exactly what we are doing and we want you to join us.

Here at Stylish Mama meets Organized Chica, we will be participating in the 30 Day Wall Sit Challenge.
We will be following the daily chart that is shown below.

Are you with us? We want YOU to participate with us in this challenge so we can motivate each other.   We will be posting on our Instagram images of us doing this challenge, so no judging please.  Please tag us during your challenge so we can see that we are not alone in this.

Here are the instructions from the 30 Day Challenge website on how to correctly do a wall sit:
  1. Stand in front of a wall (about 2 feet in front of it) and lean against it.
  2. Slide down until your knees are at about 90-degree angles and hold, keeping the abs contracted, for 20-60 seconds.
  3. Come back to start and repeat, holding the squat at different angles to work the lower body in different ways.

The 30 Day Wall Sit Challenge begins today!

Let's do this!!

Happy Wall Sit Challenge!!

Let it Snow, Let it Snow

February 5, 2014

So we are experiencing a pretty good snow storm here in New England. Over 6 inches here in our town...and its still snowing! Hoping everyone is home safe and sound.  If you do have to go out today, please be safe.

My four year old loves to bake.  She has a slight obsession with baking, more so than cooking.  I am thinking she has the baking gene in her as my father was a pastry chef for many years.  I however am a Betty Crocker of sorts. I like to bake, but I fail horribly every time I try to make something from scratch.

She asked me late last nite if we could bake cupcakes today.

I panicked as I knew I couldn't make them from scratch with her for the first time. She would be horrified and she would probably think homemade cupcakes taste horrible.

So we went to Wally World (the only store open past 9pm in my town). Best part was that we were there with all the crazy wally world shoppers stocking up on milk, eggs, and bread for the storm.

We walked away with baking mix, sprinkles, cupcake wrappers, frosting, and um a whole cart basket full of sugary and salty snacks for the storm.  NOT A GOOD IDEA!  I looked at the basket as I was taking items out to put on the belt and thought to myself "wow, good thing it doesn't snow storm like this all the time!"

Anyway, I did bake.
And our cupcakes came out perfect (thanks Betty!) and she thinks her mom is the coolest baker there is.  Yeah, she will learn one day that most moms in America are great bakers thanks to a box.

The cupcakes also came in handy today with neighbors.  We have great neighbors who will help us with their snow blowers.  So we gave a few to the guys who helped us with snow removal.

and our cupcakes came out pretty cute, I think...

Also wanted to remind you about our giveaway, Rags to Roses!  Only a few more days left - Today if you are snowed in, why not take advantage of your time and sign up!  My girl Organized Chica wrote up an excellent post on how to leave a comment if that is something you are not sure on how to do.

I have some eating to do...thanks Wally World!

How to Comment

February 4, 2014

We have had many friends tell us that they have had difficulty commenting on our blog posts.  So we wanted to give you a few instructions on how to do it.

At the end of each blog post you will find a menu bar like the one seen below:

You will see the words "No comments", when no comments have been made to this post.  Or "# comments" when followers have posted their comments.  You can click on these words and the following screen will show up.

You then can type up your comment in the "comment box" where you also have a choice on how you would like your comment to appear as.  If you have a GMAIL account, you can choose to be posted as your GMAIL account name.  If not, you have a list of options.  We personally love knowing who is posting comments so to see your name is a treat, unless you want to stay Anonymous, we respect that decision.

Just make sure to hit the PUBLISH button so your comment is published for us and others to read.

Like always, you are not obligated at all to post a comment but it sure does make our day.  Many times we hear from you personally and we love it, but we would appreciate your feedback on our posts so we can learn and build from that.  We want to hear from you, have our viewers engaged on what we do everyday.  We will take constructive criticism or positive reviews.  We have this blog up and running in part of because of our followers, so we want to get to know you too.  Think of the comments section is an open floor, express good or bad and you will be heard.

Hope these instructions helped you out and we will be seeing more of your feedback.

Happy commenting!

5 FAB Friday

January 31, 2014

5 Things we are loving/wanting/dreaming of on this Friday

Its Superbowl Sunday weekend and we wanted to share with our readers some of the dishes we either love to eat or make for the Superbowl!

Stylish Mama:

1.

I love chili, my favorite is either chicken or turkey.  But why I think its a great game day food is because you can make it into a fun party food by adding a topping bar.  I love avocado, red onion or scallion, cheese, sour cream, tortilla chips, corn bread, and tabasco sauce for those who like it a little x-tra spicy

2.
Buffalo Chicken Nachos - by the girl who ate everything
If you remember from our last football post, I love me some buffalo chicken wings!  And I also love me some nachos.  So, when I saw this recipe posted by the girl who ate everything, I knew I had to try it!  I also think hubby and his friends would L-O-V-E this.  Points for me!  :)

3.

Now we all have our favorite drink or beer during the super bowl, whether it be alcoholic or not but for the HB and me, BLUE MOON all the way.  You can find endless mix drink recipes on Pinterest to cater to your guests, especially for the young crowd.  What do you like to drink?

4.

How does this look to you? This is our version of finger food, Colombian style.  It's a combination of different meats and starch.  It's a all goodness in one place! Just looking at this is making me hungry.  You can definitely make this at home but we usually just call our local Colombian restaurant and order based on the amount of people you want to feed.  This is plate is usually the first one to finish up at a gathering.  Wonder why?

5.

Ok and maybe the commercials and half time show!  :)  New England Patriots, there is always next year!  This year we enjoy food, friends and hopefully good commercials.  Hope you have fun and share with us what food you love to make or eat during the Superbowl!
